5 AWESOME FILIPINO CALLIGRAPHERS YOU CAN FOLLOW ON INSTAGRAM

Are you looking for inspiration? Someone to follow and be inspired to. Here are five awesome Filipino calligraphers you definitely need to check out on Instagram! (in no particular order).

When people ask me how I (accidentally!) became an artist and author, I always say: “Hard work—and a bit of luck and right timing.” Tbh, sometimes I still wonder how I ended up here. The years leading up to today constantly haunted me with self-doubt and insecurity (still ongoing). There wasn’t even a guarantee that I’d survive this job, and up until now, there’s always that question of “What’s next?” (lol, idk either). But you know what? This craaazy lifelong journey of pursuing my passion has given me the opportunity to make art and share stories to you all—and for that, I am grateful. 😌✨ Has it really been three years? I talk about my work anniversary on abbey-sy.com/blog; link in profile. . PS: Swipe to see my 2014 artwork. #throwbacktuesday? 🤔 Practice definitely makes progress. Never forget that. ✍🏻 #typebyabc

Finally, the Sakura Gelly Rolls with different pen points are here!! I couldn't help but pick up a pack when I saw them in stock. What is usually sold is the size 08 (which is really a 0.4mm, medium point). In the pack, they have included a size 10 (0.5mm bold) and a 05 (0.3mm fine). I used mostly the bold and medium points for this flourishing piece, as I'd need the contrast for the photo. The bold one I'll reserve for bigger pieces or when I need to color something in. The fine point is still so smooth and opaque though, and I look forward to using it for penmanship practice. I hope they distribute it individually too, coz I'll sure hoard it. #gellyroll #sakura #penmanship #flourishing #offhandflourishing #monoline #practice | Got the pack from @scribe.ph and paper from the @ifexph Paper Bar.

MY TWO CENTS

We all began as a beginner, a noob, a newbie, a novice. When I first encounter calligraphy, I was amazed on how this artist created those strokes with their pen with such drama and precision. Argh! I want to do it too! But first, how do I start? How do we start?

We look for inspirations. We do some research. We search for person to follow. We make them as our role model.  We learn from them. We watch them. We copy them. We create our OWN STYLE. We share our WORK, our ART. Then someday, someone will FOLLOW You and will do the same things that you did.

And the Cycle goes on and on and on. This is how we keep the Calligraphy Alive!
My piece of advice -  Be inspired by others. Love your Work. Appreciate your effort and most of all KEEP WRITING!.

P.S. Who are your inspirations in calligraphy? I know, there are many Unsung Calligraphy Heroes out there that needs recognition. Please comment below and tell the world how great they are.

P.P.S. If ever you find my blog interesting, please don’t forget to like and share this blog and FB Page Callighobby or you may share or feature your art by joining our FB Group Callighobby Section PH.

Thanks and Have a Nice Day!
