BRUSH CALLIGRAPHY 101 Part 1 : INTRODUCTION

First things first, what is calligraphy?

According to Wikipedia, calligraphy comes from the Greek word “kalli” which means beautiful and “graphia” which means writing. Combining these two words, calligraphy means “beautiful writing”.

What is brush calligraphy?

There are many forms of calligraphy depending on its demography, the medium used, the technique and style.

But for this topic we will focus on BRUSH CALLIGRAPHY.
Brush calligraphy is a form of calligraphy using of course “brush”. It is the best way to start for beginners who want to be familiar with calligraphy. It might be intimidating at first. But when you get the hang of it, you will really enjoy it.

As you go thru this series, we will provide you tips and tricks on choosing your first brush pen, learning the basics like guidelines and strokes. We will also guide you as you write your first letter to your first word, until you create your own style.
